Matthew 26:36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane; and he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
In the the garden
an old tree spoke.
Listening with my heart
I heard
words of fear
words of anger
words of betrayal
words of lament
from a time when hopelessness seemed stronger than love.
Old roots remembered
a night
in a garden called Gethsemane.
Tell the story, the old tree said
of the garden
and the hill
and the empty tomb.
Tell the story and have hope.

Thank you holy one, for the roots that helps us remember and the story that fills us with hope. AmenĀ
