God: “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”  -Isaiah 66:13

I have a toddler. A very busy, curious, active toddler. He is quite content to do his own thing much of the time, tucking puzzle pieces and Duplos and train cars into bags and cabinets. He climbs and tumbles and rolls and does laps around us. He’s a very independent little fellow. But every once in a while he needs to check in, in order to continue feeling safe and connected as he tackles the world head on. He needs to see me, or touch me, or burrow into my lap for a brief nurse or snuggle. Especially when his climbing results in a bonk on the floor!

I find hope in the promise that God will comfort me as I comfort Owen – that God is steadfast, always there, loving me in a way beyond even what I have a glimpse of through my love for Owen.   –Heather Gray

God, thank you for your deep well of unconditional love. Thank you for your promise of comfort when life leads to painful “bonks”. Help me please to love others as you love me. Amen.
